Level Beginner
The toolbar for the Beginner level of OOo4Kids offers 9 functions:

| Choose a font from the pull-down list. | |
| Reduce the font size. | |
| Increase the font size.
If no text has been selected, the font size increase/reduction is only applied on the word with the cursor in it. If you want to select an entire sentence, triple click on a word in the sentence. | |
| Apply Bold. | CTRL-B |
| Apply Underline. | CTRL-U |
| Apply Italics. | CTRL-I |
| Insert an image from a file. | |
| Open/close the gallery for images of OOo4Kids | |
| Show/hide the toolbar "Draw". |
Average Level
The toolbar for the "Average Level" of OOo4Kids adds 4 functions:

| Opens or closes the Print preview page. | |
| Insert a table in the document.
You can also click the arrow, drag the pointer to select the number of rows and columns to include in the table, then click the last cell. | |
| Indicates whether the Styles and Formatting window, which allows you to assign and organize the styles, should be shown or hidden. | |
| Automatically checks the spelling in the entry and highlights errors. |
Expert level
The toolbar for the Expert level of OOo4Kids adds 17 new functions:

| Export the current document to PDF. No dialog box for settings is displayed. | |
| Quickly print the current document with the default print settings on by. | Ctrl+P |
| Opens a toolbar where you can select a background color for a paragraph.
The color is applied to the background of the current paragraph or selected paragraphs. | |
| Choose from several font sizes in the list or manually enter a size. | |
| Aligns selected paragraph(s) to the left. | Ctrl+L |
| Centre the selected paragraph(s) on the page. | Ctrl+E |
| Aligns selected paragraph(s) to the right. | Ctrl+R |
| Justifies the selected paragraph(s).
You can specify the alignment options for the last line in a paragraph; | Ctrl+J |
| Check the spelling of the document or the current selection.
If the language tool extension has been installed, the dialog also checks grammar. | |
| Removes and copies the selection to the clipboard. | Ctrl+X |
| Copy the selected text to the clipboard. | Ctrl+C |
| Inserts the contents of the clipboard at the cursor location and replaces the text or selected objects if any.
To select the format, click the arrow next to the icon! | Ctrl+V |
| Reverses the last command or user input.
