Hi,

Thanks for volunteering to port OO to my favourite platform! I'll try and help where I can. You might find posting questions on utilitybase.com helpful, as well.

Anyway, i'll try and answer the questions raised so far:

Q) where (which location) install the SDK ?

A) Wherever you like.

Q) how to uninstall the previous one btw ?

A) Open "S:User-Startup" in a text editor and remove the SDK section. Reboot. You can now delete the SDK from your hard disk.

Q) no way to uncompress a 550 MB .tar.gz, containing the 2.2 GB of source OOo4Kids does  : failed several times, due to file containing wrong information ???

A) Hmm.. odd. "UnArc" should support .tar.gz fully, including >2Gb files. Was the md5sum of the archive correct after transferring to AmigaOS? Also, if you want to deal with files larger than 2Gb, make sure you only do so on JXFS formatted partitions.

Q) only two USB ports

A) You can use a cheap USB hub, or I believe the SAM boards have headers for two more USB ports on the motherboard.

Q) found no vi nor emacs nor whatever else correct editor on the machine

A) AmigaOS comes with notepad. Its in "Utilities" on the system partition. There is also a really old version of emacs included. You can download an IDE here: http://www.codebench.co.uk - Its not as fully featured as Eclipse or Visual Studio, but it is relatively new and improving all the time.

Q) the shell is uggly  : strange completion, environnement tcsh like ( eeek ...) and lot of missing things.

A) Its not ugly, its just unfamiliar. Don't forget AmigaOS has been around since the early 80s, and there was no need to clone the UNIX shell back then. Once the SDK is installed, you can always type "sh" and find yourself in a more familiar environment, if you want :)

Q) Subversion hangs without reason

A) This is strange. I use SVN on OS4 a *LOOOOT* without any issues. Try typing this into a shell:
